Nursing
Excellence in Human Caring
As the first Southern California hospital to earn Magnet® designation in 2000, Cedars-Sinai has the distinction of being one of only nine hospitals worldwide, and one of two medical centers in the Western United States, to receive this honor five consecutive times. The American Nurses Credentialing Center found that Cedars-Sinai's nursing services "represent the highest standards in the nation and internationally."

As part of the Geri and Richard Brawerman Nursing Institute's commitment to ensuring the successful transition of new graduate nurses into the practice environment, our nurse educators, nursing leadership and human resources recently collaborated to update the curriculum and clinical orientation process.
Leadership Development

The Rising Star Leadership Program is a succession planning program for clinical nurses. This leadership program was developed and sponsored by the Geri and Richard Brawerman Nursing Institute to help our clinical nurses as they grow their team leadership skills.

Nursing Honor Roll and Awards

Each year during National Nurses Week, events across the U.S. honor nurses and educate the public about nurses' roles in healthcare. At Cedars-Sinai in 2018, an awards ceremony honored more than 70 nurses in 20 specialty categories. Additionally, Cedars-Sinai holds an annual Nursing Symposium event to coincide with the celebration. In 2018, the symposium focused on nurse advocacy. This year's event will begin on May 6th and end on May 12th, Florence Nightingale's birthday.

Donna Dooley-Aiello, RN, a clinical nurse in the Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion operating room, is the 2018 winner of the Maggie Stempson-Carter Excellence in Caring Award. This annual award recognizes Cedars-Sinai nurses who represent clinical excellence, quality care and professionalism. Dooley-Aiello received the honor during the 36th Annual Nursing Award Ceremony.
